Another star studded affair, Renault Sony Guild Awards 2016 (previously known as Star Guild Awards) was nothing short of glamour and masti. Bajirao Mastani, which was released just a few days back, won the most number of awards, whereas Salman Khan’s heart warming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan won five of them. Deepika Padukone won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Piku.

“Bajrangi Bhaijaan” won four awards including Best Film along with Best Screenplay, Best Story and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Typically, the awards were “please all” with the Best Film and Best Director (isn’t he responsible for a film being “Best”?) going to different movies!

Host Kapil Sharma was also given the Best Newcomer (as in film hero) trophy. Sonakshi Sinha opened the evening with an aerial entry and performed to a medley of songs including her single “Desi Kalaakar” and others like “Abhi To Party Shuru Hui Hai” and “Banno Tera Swagger.”
